Call the class back together and go over the chart. Invite students to take turns coming up to the white board and filling in the words.

Ask students to open their social studies book to a designated page or pass out copies of a text you have downloaded from the Internet. Ask them to work in pairs, finding examples of infinitives and participles that are cognates. (Be sure to preview the text and be sure that there are ample examples of infinitives and participles. If not, select another text.)

Ask student pairs to discuss the text in any language they choose. Ask them to identify the main ideas in the text.

After students have finished discussing the text, ask them to work together, writing a summary of the text in English, using as many infinitives and past participles as possible.

Closure: Invite students to share their summaries with the class. Use infinitives and past participles while discussing the text.
